Sending a child
to camp is a tremendous act of faith by parents. At Laurel, we take that
responsibility very seriously and maintain an environment that encourages
both safety and health and reinforces a positive self-image. We aim to
provide campers with opportunities for emotional and physical growth,
encourage their natural abilities and instill them with the benefits of
group living. Our ultimate goal is to provide an enjoyable, exciting summer
experience that motivates our campers to approach the future with courage,
confidence and a feeling of self worth.

Camp Laurel is located in Readfield, Maine, 17 miles off Interstate 95
and 20 minutes west of Augusta, the state capital. The camp is situated
on the eastern shore of Echo Lake, just beyond the village of Kents Hill
in the south-central part of the state. Our picturesque surroundings provide
campers with the ideal setting to experience a fantastic summer at Camp
Laurel.

Each year Laurel welcomes 230 boys and 230 girls, ranging in age from
7-15, from all over the United States. The vast majority
of campers return year after year, and many campers follow older brothers
and sisters to camp.

Laurel is divided into six campuses, three for boys and three for girls.
The size of each campus allows us to provide a very personal, close-knit
environment with a great deal of individual attention. Campuses are further
broken down into smaller groups, assigned by grade completed in school.

Each day at camp is filled with exciting activities and programs, and
the daily schedule allows campers time to explore individual interests
and bond with fellow campers. Wake-up, meals and lights-out times vary
depending upon the camper's age. The activities scheduled are age and
gender appropriate.
A typical day begins with wake-up and breakfast, followed by morning "Cove"
(a campus-wide meeting to prepare for the day ahead). There is a short
cabin clean up, and then campers attend three morning activities. After
buffet lunch and rest hour, there are two additional activity periods
and a recreational 6th period. Every evening after dinner there is a program
for each group. These include theatre productions, sports leagues, and
group games. Following evening snack, lights out is scheduled according
to age. Note: This "Typical" schedule is followed during regular
program days. Every fifth day is a Special Event Day at Laurel, where
campers enjoy either a trip day out of camp or a special day in camp.
