25th Year at Camp
Going on his third decade at Laurel – camping’s best Director of Athletics! Oversees our 50-person athletic department. Former Big East basketball player at Georgetown; now a PE teacher and high school hoops coach in Maryland. Tom’s father was the Athletic Director at Georgetown. Quite a pedigree! Tom’s joined each summer by his wife Stacey and their 4 boys. Everyone loves having the Langs in our Laurel family.
38th Year at Camp
Biology teacher and coach at St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island. Master’s from Syracuse University. Grew up as a camper at Laurel; met her husband Warren here in 1980. Makes safety and fun the hallmarks of Laurel’s waterfront while overseeing swim, small crafts and waterskiing. Thirty-eighth year at camp. Unofficial camp historian. Ask her anything about Camp Laurel!
Adventure and Inter-Arts Director
16th Year at Camp
Drury College graduate. Teaches high school art and adventure in Aztec, New Mexico. Perfect for overseeing our adventure program – climbing, aerial park, mountain biking and outdoor tripping. Also manages our vast inter-arts department encompassing performing, visual and culinary arts! Ensures that each aspect of our highly structured adventure and arts programs is safe, exciting and fun.
1st Year at Camp
Head Interscholastic Equestrian Association Coach at Mt. Holyoke College. Norwich University graduate. Professional riding coach for many years with five years coaching hunter and jumpers. Certified instructor in Massachusetts; has managed several top boarding, training and breeding facilities. Looks forward to leading Laurel Equestrian. Welcome, Kendall!
Sao Paulo, Brazil
14th Year at Camp
Former head tennis coach at Bethel College. Three-time conference Coach of the Year. Now runs his own Tennis Academy in Sao Paulo. Former standout collegiate player; ranked as a Brazilian junior. Back for his 14th year at Laurel; “Gus” is a tennis stalwart and camp favorite.
Associate Tennis Director
2nd Year at Camp
Head coach of the women’s team at the University of Rhode Island where she also previously led the men’s program. Not only a top-level coach, she was a top-ranked singles player at Rollins College and has a USTA mixed doubles championship to her name. We’re so excited to have Val back in summer #2 to continue the tradition of high level and professional tennis instruction on the Laurel hardcourts!
